Brockley Market

Tucked away in Lewisham College car park, you'll find the small but perfectly formed Brockley Market selling some of the most delicious food you'll feast your eyes on. We of course went along to try Mother Flipper which you already know but we couldn't leave without trying a few more of their wares!

After i'd scoffed my burger I headed straight to Kooky Bakes to nab myself one of their Whoopie Pies for when the hunger pains striked again. A delicious concoction of red velvet with a layer of tasty buttercream in the middle. It was worth every penny of the three English pounds. My boyfriend opted for a more savory treat and treated himself to a small pot of garlic olives from Olive Branch.

We also got a pie each - pulled pork for me and stilton for Connor with a bag of pork scratchings to munch on. It was such a hot day and in hindsight we shouldn't have left the pies as when we got round to eating them later on in Greenwich Park, they'd gone a bit sweaty. I think they'd be much more enjoyable if we'd eaten then as soon as we'd got them. Lesson learnt! I completely forgot to catch the name of the stall.

We also spotted Professer Green queuing up for his burger next to us. Always nice to have a little celeb spot! I think he caught us talking about him as he turned round and gave us a little smile. Obviously we're not as subtle as we think we are!

Review: Mother Flipper

Like I mentioned on Sunday, we popped to Brockley Market over the weekend and one of the main reasons was to sample the renowned Mother Flipper burgers. I had yet to have the pleasure but my boyfriend had tried one at Kerb and insisted it was something I needed to try. When it comes to burgers I don't need to be told twice!

As always I had eyes bigger than my belly and opted for The Dirty Barbie which consisted of two fat patties, BBQ sauce, American cheese, candied bacon and onion served in a toasted sesame seeded bun. The verdict? Well quite possibly up there with one of the best i've had. Honest is still my favourite. But only just! The sweet candied bacon just takes it to another level. The main star of the burger in my humble opinion. I loved the fact they didn't scrimp on the cheese because a burger always needs lots and lots of cheese.

I struggled with this. Big time. It was a complete and utter mess. In a good way of course. Make sure you take lots of kitchen roll on offer because it's a struggle to eat normally. I ended up eating it in two halves.  We ended up waiting longer than the 10 minutes quoted but to be honest it happens. With such a busy queue, these boys aren't superheroes. It just made the anticipation even more intense and as you can tell, it was well worth the wait.

I'm already planning my next trip back! Next time i'm opting for the double candy bacon flipper. Sounds like heaven eh?

My finger slipped and I went a bit mad in the ASOS sale and one of the things that arrived on my doorstep was this pretty spotted dress. It actually detatches and becomes a co-ord too. Amazing! It makes it even more of a bargain! It was something that was brought completely on a whim - the rest of the order was sensible tops boo! - but it's turned out to be my favourite item. It's going to be the perfect outfit to make that transition from day to night. Unpop the poppers and voila you're ready to hit the town!

With my Glastonbury trip and my boyfriend's stag week to Ibiza, money is a little tight this month and probably next month too! But it was the boyfriend's birthday last Tuesday and I couldn't let it go without any sort of celebration so I gave him the choice to pick a day trip. As always we opted for the Big Smoke. But this time we popped to Brockley Market - more on that later this week - in the morning where we picked up some delicious treats and Greenwich in the afternoon. We decided to venture down to Greenwich park as it was sunny and we don't get many of those days in England! We treked up the hill to the Observartory and were rewarded with some cracking views of Canary Wharf, the o2 Arena and the Maritime Musuem. It was well worth huffing and puffing in the hot sun!
